HRC Showcase Theatre Announces 2019-2020 Season

HRC Showcase Theatre is pleased to announce the five original plays that will be presented as staged readings during the upcoming 29th anniversary season. These plays were carefully selected by a panel of five well-qualified judges from over 200 submissions.

All five readings, directed by HRC Showcase Theatre’s Artistic Director, Barbara Waldinger, will take place at 7:30 pm at the First Reformed Church, 52 Green Street, Hudson, NY. A reception and talkback with the actors, playwright, and director follows each staged reading. Included is a list of this season’s plays, playwrights, performance dates, and a brief description of each play. 

October 19, 2019: Life Still Is by Tony Pasqualini. After a tragic mistake, a pediatrician Elizabeth Baker leaves her practice to join a controversial government program charged with stemming a national catastrophe. 

November 23, 2019: The Liberation by Cate Wiley. How do you know when you’re sleeping with the enemy? 

March 21, 2020: For The People by Carol Mullen. An idealistic politician must choose between her ambition and her values. 

April 25, 2020: How We Survived by Pauline David Sax. A daughter’s questions about her mother’s past leads to a reckoning about the stories we need to tell ourselves. 

May 30, 2020: The Springvale Armadillo by Donald Loftus. After nearly seventy years, a wrongly institutionalized woman’s shocking secrets are unlocked. Winner of the W Keith Hedrick Playwriting Award.
