Declarations coincide with The Immigrants’ Ball: Celebrating the American Dream at Proctors, Sunday, Aug. 18
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—AUG. 15, 2019—The mayors of the four anchor cities of the Capital Region will proclaim Sunday, Aug. 18, Capital Region Immigrants’ Day in their individual municipalities.
Mayors Meg Kelly (Saratoga Springs), Patrick Madden (Troy), Gary R. McCarthy (Schenectady) and Kathy Sheehan (Albany) have all, or will, set their hand to proclamations, which coincide with The Immigrants’ Ball: Celebrating the American Dream at Proctors—an evening dedicated to showcasing new Americans whose courage, hard work, resilience and sacrifice have shaped our community.
“Aren’t we all immigrants?” asked Proctors Collaborative CEO Philip Morris in a Daily Gazette op-ed earlier this month. “Whether the son, the daughter, the grandchild or great grandchild, we are nearly all from foreign soil. This diversity has made us, and continues to make us, strong.”
