The Ancram Opera House is seeking local storytellers for the Saturday, July 27 installment of its popular storytelling series REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES. No experience is necessary and each storyteller will receive up to five hours of coaching from Ancram Opera House Director Paul Ricciardi.
Interested storytellers may leave a one-minute version of their story on the AOH story pitch line at 518-250-9791. All stories must be true, experienced first-hand by the storyteller, and run no more than 15 minutes.
Ricciardi created REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES after being inspired by NPR’s The Moth Radio Hour. “RPRS has become one of our most popular shows,” said Ricciardi. “It’s a powerful experience to hear a story told by a friend or neighbor in a small, intimate space, and the Ancram Opera House theatre was built for this kind of event.”
Ricciardi is on the theatre faculty at CUNY/Kingsborough and is a recipient of the Kennedy Center National Teaching Artist Award. He honed his dramaturgical technique at Trinity Rep in Providence, RI, working with Oskar Eustis (Artistic Director, New York Public Theater) and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel.
