Greenfield – The Board of Directors of Silverthorne Theater Company announces that Lucinda Kidder will retire as Producing Artistic Director at the end of the 2019 season. During the remainder of the season, which includes mainstage performances of The Fantasticks, The Diary of Anne Frank, and Lauren Gunderson’s The Revolutionists, as well as a monthly new-play reading series, Kidder will gradually step back from the daily operations of the theater and members of the Board will begin taking on her responsibilities to ensure a smooth transition as we plan for the future.
Since co-founding the company in 2014, Lucinda has worked tirelessly and effectively to build the company’s presence and impact in the Pioneer Valley, managing every detail and serving as the face of Silverthorne. She has brought the company onto strong footing, with a growing positive reputation among audiences and all those who have worked on productions over the years. We are deeply grateful for the time and energy she has devoted to the company since the beginning.
The board views this development as a positive opportunity to plan for the next chapter of Silverthorne. We remain passionately committed to our mission of producing adventurous, thought-provoking theatrical experiences.
During the leadership transition, Silverthorne’s Literary Manager, Rebecca Daniels, and Board member Carmela Lanza-Weil will gradually assume artistic and producing responsibilities. Both have had extensive theatre management and production experience in regional theaters before moving to the Pioneer Valley, and each have directed two shows for Silverthorne. In retirement, Kidder will remain on the Board, with the title Co-founder Emeritus, and continue to be a presence at theater events and behind the scenes.
We invite all of Silverthorne’s supporters to join us in wishing Lucinda well in her retirement; the biggest thing you can do to help out in this transition phase is to come see our shows, spread the good word about Silverthorne and, if possible, volunteer and/or become a donor to insure Silverthorne’s continued success.
