Albany Berkshire Ballet’s Acclaimed Nutcracker Returns to Colonial Theatre

Audiences will once more thrill in the wonderment of timeless holiday magic as Albany Berkshire Ballet‘s acclaimed performance of the Nutcracker returns to the Colonial Theatre this Dec 1-2.

2018 marks ABB’s 44th annual production of this beloved favorite, choreographed by Artistic Director Madeline Culpo, appearing in Pittsfield for four performances Saturday Dec 1 at 2:30PM & 6:30PM and Sunday, Dec  2, at 1:30PM & 6:00PM.

Albany Berkshire Ballet’s professional mix of premiere U.S. and international dancers, award-winning costumes and set work- in conjunction with talented young dance students from across the communities its serves- has captivated audiences for many years and inspired generations in the pursuit of dance.  . Sets and scenery were created by theater and movie set designer Carl Sprague, a Stockbridge native, and costumes were designed by Rita Watson and Victile Donahue.

ABB’s 2018 The Nutcracker annual production will visit four cities throughout the Northeast. The 2018 tour includes more than 500 young students, including 17 young dancers who will have the opportunity to portray the beloved role of Clara.  These student dancers will have the opportunity to dance alongside the company’s 15 professional dancers as they bring this holiday classic to more than 7,000 delighted audience members.

ABB has been bringing this acclaimed production throughout the Northeast since 1974.  This year the first stop of the tour will be at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, VT on November 24th and 25th for three performances.  Following will be the beautiful Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA on December 1st and 2nd for four shows. On December 8th   and December 9th  ABB will perform three shows at The Egg at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY, then concluding in Springfield with two shows at Symphony Hall on December 16th.
