Ghent Playhouse Seeks to Cast Male Roles in “Cabaret”

The Ghent Playhouse and Director Matthew Teichner are looking to cast the following roles for the upcoming production of  CABARET (1998 Version) – Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb.

Clifford Bradshaw: 20-40. Very strong actor, good singer. No dance. Young American, idealistic writer. Pleasant looking, honorable, intelligent, reserved but friendly. Appears to be in control yet is dealing with a considerable amount of internal conflict. Visits Berlin for inspiration and ends up with more than he bargained for. Baritone.

Four Kit Kat Club Boys: (Bobby, Victor, Herman and Hans): 20s-30s. Strong personalities who are good singers and dancers. Sexy, quirky and naughty.

Multiple characters as well, customs official, Max, Rudy and bodyguard. All vocal types.

*Performance dates*:  March 16 – April 1, 2018.  Friday & Saturday performances at 8 pm and 2 pm Sundays.

*SYNOPSIS: * Set amid the backdrop of 1930?s Germany, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them that they will forget all of their troubles at the Cabaret.  With his bawdy songs serving as wry
commentary, CABARET explores the dark, heady and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates, as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich.

Tony Award-winner for Best Play in 1967 and again in 1998 for its revival.

The Ghent Playhouse is an all-volunteer community theater.
