OLLI’s “Travel Photography for Everyone” begins 1/25 in Great Barrington

Anyone who has followed Berkshire on Stage for a while knows we love photography in all its permutations. One of the joys of travelling is creating enduring photographic images of the sights that fill you with wonder, delight, and surprise. Add a little music and narration, and you have your own personalized show to share with others.

Learn how to capture even better images next time you travel with award-winning photographer Thaddeus Kubis in OLLI: the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Berkshire Community College’s winter course, “Travel Photography for Everyone.” No experience is necessary.

The class begins Wednesday, January 25th and runs for four weekly sessions from 2pm to 4:30pm at Berkshire Community College’s South county Center, located at 343 Main Street in downtown Great Barrington, Mass.

Whichever media you use-film, digital, smartphone, tablet, GoPro, video, or cameras-all will be covered and the outcome for you will be better travel- and location-based photography. In four intensive 2.5-hour sessions, we’ll cover understanding your destination and your equipment, the photographic golden hours, creative composition, taking notes (lots of notes!), the benefits of wandering, and how to tell and publish your story.

Course registration is only $45, and you can register online at BerkshireOLLI.org or by phone with a credit card at 413-236-2190. To register, you must first become a member of OLLI. Membership is $50 a year and allows you to register for four semesters of fascinating classes in history, the arts, current events, literature, science and more, all with no grades and no tests, just learning for the love of learning. Your OLLI membership also gives you discounts on OLLI special events, trips and speakers, as well as from selected cultural partners. And finally, your OLLI membership gives you exclusive access to our Shared Interest Groups on topics ranging from mystery novels and American Indian art and culture to downhill skiing, billiards and more.

Instructor Thaddeus Kubis is trained as both a graphic designer and photographer. He brings elements of geometric imagery and graphic design to every photo he creates, and is an experienced photography instructor who has taught many classes for OLLI and other organizations.
